“The Reunion Beatles” Event Is Planned for Friday, March 29th, at TCCHS’s Auditorium
“The Reunion Beatles” flyer seen on Facebook and around several businesses in Todd County in recent days says it all – “Don’t miss the ultimate ‘Rock & Roll’ fantasy.” Promoted and produced by Wayne Coy of Las Vegas, “The Reunion Beatles” group is considered one of the premier Beatles’ performance groups in the United States. Brad O’Shoney, a 1978 graduate of TCCHS, is a friend of promoter Wayne Coy, and when Coy asked about a possible venue for a “Reunion Beatles” performance in our area, Brad suggested Todd County Central High School. Brad explained, “This group is one of the top national tribute bands with singing, acting, and performing interwoven into a polished musical production.” Tickets for the March 29th event, which honors the 60-year anniversary of the Beatles’ first U.S. performance, can be purchased online at https://reunionbeatles.com at a cost of $30.00 for the ticket and an additional handling fee. Time for the performance is slated to begin at 7:30 PM in the TCCHS auditorium with the concert expected to last approximately two and a half hours.
Lavelle Hunt of Illinois, one who has seen the “The Reunion Beatles” performance twice, shared, “Even though I saw the ‘Reunion Beatles’ last year and knew they were fantastic, they actually exceeded my expectations for tonight! This show was absolutely incredible and the nicest group of guys you ever met.” Lavelle added, “Have you ever heard the saying ‘close your eyes and you would think you were hearing the Beatles?’ These guys not only sounded like them, but they also looked like the Beatles.” Another attendee at a concert, Tom Golden of Nebraska, commented the group was “very authentic in both sound and small details, like John’s gum-chewing brash personality and Ringo’s fun-loving style. Not only great voices, but they are also great musicians.”
Many will recall the original Beatles first gained their popularity in 1964 with their first national performance in the U.S. occurring on The Ed Sullivan Show, a CBS production that featured the British group on February 9, 1964. It is estimated about 73 million people gathered in front of their television sets to witness the Beatles’ first live performance in the U.S. The British group, consisting of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, entertained the nation and the world for almost a decade beginning in 1960. Though they disbanded as a musical group in 1970, their music remains some of the most popular and influential music to this day.
An added benefit to attending the performance at TCCHS will be that some of the proceeds for the event will be donated to the Milliken Memorial Community House. Brad explained most Todd Countians recall attending a class reunion, theatrical or musical performance, wedding, community meeting, or some other event at the Community House, and the March 29th “Reunion Beatles” performance will allow Todd Countians and folks from surrounding areas to witness one of the most talented tribute bands in the nation as well as contribute to the upkeep of the beloved Milliken Memorial Community House. Tentative plans also include the sale of concessions.
