After surpassing its 2024 auction goal by well over $10,000, the Elkton Rotary Club has come up with another way to utilize funds to better education at Todd County Public Schools.
In addition to the traditional scholarships that are given to seniors at Todd County Central High School, the group will hand out grants to teachers across the district. Public Relations Committee Chair Rhonda Werner told Your WEKT News Edge that this is a way to show appreciation to teachers.
Werner added the funds will be doled out to be used for the 2024-25 school year.
The National Educational Foundation published in 2022 that on average teachers spend more than $820 out-of-pocket on school supplies. The grant recipients will be announced in mid-May.
