The Elkton Rotary Club is preparing for its 4th annual scholarship auction, which holds even greater significance this year as it commemorates a century of community service.
In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the local service club, a new fundraising initiative named the Bryan Blount III Century Club is being introduced. Rhonda Werner, co-chair of this year’s fundraiser, announced that community members can donate a minimum of $100 to participate in this exciting new effort.
Born in 1924, Blount dedicated 33 years to working at Ashland Oil Company. In addition, he was the Mayor of Elkton from 1990 to 1998. Blount actively participated in numerous organizations and boards, such as the Elkton Rotary Club and Hopkinsville Community College.
If you wish to contribute to the Century Club, donations can be made to any Rotarian or sent via mail to P.O. Box 60, Elkton, KY, 42220. The goal for this year’s auction is $25,000.
According to Kelvin DeBerry co-chair of the auction, the 2024 Elkton Rotary Club Scholarship Auction is scheduled to take place from Friday, March 22 to Friday, March 29. Similar to previous years, the auction will be hosted on the Bolinger Real Estate and Auction website.
Information about how businesses can donate items for the auction will be forthcoming on the Elkton Rotary Club Facebook page.
