Mrs. Goldie Mae Spry Newcomb, age 83 of Trenton, passed away 6:15 p.m., Friday, January 26, 2024, at Hearthstone Place in Elkton. Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Latham Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Cummings officiating. Burial will follow in the Edgewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, and beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday until time for the funeral at Latham Funeral Home. Mrs. Goldie was born in Pembroke, KY on March 31, 1940. She was a Nurse and received her LPN License from the State of Tennessee. She assisted in training the first nurse’s aide class at Jennie Stuart Hospital and has also served as Director of Nursing at Medco Center in Pembroke, KY. Mrs. Goldie had also worked for Nutri-System, Todd County Health Department, and South Todd Elementary as an educational assistant. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Henry “Sonny” Newcomb, her brother, Mack Eugene Spry, and her sister, Wanda Lee Lawrence.
Survivors include her daughter, Wanda Beth Boyd, and her husband Eddie of Olmstead, her sister, Frances Bush of Hopkinsville; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
