While budget proposals concerning Kentucky’s Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches have made their way out of the House – plenty of work remains.16th District Representative Jason Petrie tells Your WEKT News Edge those budgets should begin moving forward soon.
One big contention that has come about for this budget cycle is what to do with funds in the Budget Reserve Trust Fund. House Bill 6 will deal with the Executive branch budget, while House Bill 1 focuses on one-time expenditures.
The House version of the budget doesn’t include any new special projects, but funding for each budget unit has increased.
While Governor Andy Beshear recently stated his priorities in this budget, Representative Petrie said he hasn’t heard from the governor’s office since December.
