The City of Trenton will continue its participation in the Todd County Joint City-County Planning Commission.
At its regularly scheduled meeting Monday evening, the commission voted unanimously for the city to enter into an Interlocal Cooperation Agreement with the Todd County Fiscal Court and the Elkton and Guthrie City Councils.
Establishing a joint city-county planning commission comes after unprecedented residential, business, and commercial growth in the county and will ultimately implement county-wide planning and zoning.
According to Trenton City Clerk Carol Chester, the joint planning commission is still in its early stages with an immediate goal of preparing, reviewing, and adopting a comprehensive plan for the county.
Chester also stated that because of the financial considerations associated with participation in the commission, any of the parties can withdraw their agreement at any time.
Trenton resident Jane Bailey has previously been appointed to represent the city of Trenton on the commission.
In other news, city commissioners voted to donate an annual gift of $250 to the Elkton City/Todd County Park. The $250 is up from the previous year’s donation of $100.
Commissioners agreed the park provided nearly year-round service to county residents of all ages.
Clerk Chester reported that the city’s annual financial audit is underway. Duiguid, Gentry, and Associates from Clarksville, TN have been hired to conduct the audit.
