A special honor, a couple of months in the making, was finally revealed Wednesday afternoon.
During the annual South West Kentucky Economic Development Council Industry Appreciation Luncheon, officials announced the John Walton Business Park. The area was nicknamed “the Roberston property” since it was purchased from James Roberston last year by the Todd County Industrial Foundation.
Elkton Mayor Arthur Green recently shared with Your WEKT News Edge that Walton meant a lot to his city, Todd County, and the immediate region.
Green added Walton’s work extended to the South West Kentucky EDC and the Logan-Todd Regional Water Commission, he even helped neighboring counties and communities with any industry questions.
Green said there is no better honor to bestow upon Walton. The process started with Elkton City Council, with the full approval of Todd County Industrial Foundation, which Walton served as president of until his passing on Tuesday, June 6.
The John Walton Business Park is located on U.S. 68/Kentucky 80, just east of Kentucky 181 in Elkton. The land is not home to any industry just yet and is approximately 25 acres in size.
