Trenton Fire Chief Jon Stahl told commissioners at Monday’s special called city council meeting that residents may soon see a decrease in home insurance premiums after recent improvements in the city’s ISO rating.
These ratings are based on the availability of water sources in each community and how well the community is slated to protect its homes and businesses in the event of a fire.
In other news, City Clerk Carol Chester said that phone and internet service at City Hall will be switched to fiber internet and ViOP telephone provided by Hopkinsville Electric Service and administered by city resident Eric Weaver.
The estimated $180 service represents a significant savings over the average $700 bill the city previously had.
The city continues its wait for several million dollars in grants for water and sewer upgrades. According to City Attorney Jeff Traughber, some of the awards may be granted as early as December.
Chester reported the city’s tax bills have been printed and will be going out at the end of this week.
Additionally, the city is looking to create a panhandling ordinance and update the zoning and subdivision ordinance.
Trenton’s 80th Halloween Carnival is scheduled for Saturday, October 28 beginning at 5 p.m. at the old Trenton School and Gymnasium. Admission is free.
