In its regularly scheduled meeting Friday morning, the Todd County Fiscal Court adopted a proclamation honoring the county’s retired educators.
According to the proclamation read by County Treasurer Misty Carlock and signed by Judge Executive Todd Mansfield, the county recognizes the valuable service and tremendous experience of these educators and proclaims October 16-20, 2023 as Retired Teachers’ Appreciation Week.
County officials and several members of the Todd County Retired Teachers’ Association were on hand to hear the proclamation, among them retired teacher and former Trenton mayor Joann Holder.
click to download audioIn 2014, the Kentucky General Assembly adopted the third week in each October as Kentucky Retired Teachers’ Appreciation Week.
Judge Executive Mansfield made a motion to amend the county’s administrative code to help offset employee training costs and retain new employees.
Revision of the code states that any road employee that receives employment training at the county’s expense must remain employed by the county for two years or he/she will be responsible for reimbursement of training costs to the county.
This change comes as a result of training now required by the federal government that costs the county $4000 per employee.
click to download audioAccording to County Clerk Cindy O’Bryan, Kentucky’s mail in absentee portal is now live until October 24 at 11:59 p.m. Residents are eligible to cast walk in absentee ballots October 25-November 1 and early voting is scheduled in the county on November 2, 3, and 4 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at the Todd County Courthouse.
