Counterfeit Money And Drugs Found In Guthrie Traffic Stop

A traffic stop on US 79 in Guthrie for speeding led to felony charges for a Louisville man Friday morning.

Guthrie Police say they stopped 24-year-old Jamal Gardner for going 18 mph over the speed limit and during the stop, they could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

After a search of the vehicle, 1 ounce of marijuana and approximately $4,000 in counterfeit $20 bills were reportedly found.

Police say a passenger in the vehicle Jordan Smith claimed the marijuana. Gardner was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, no registration plates, failure to maintain required insurance, and speeding.

Guthrie Police were assisted by the Todd County Sheriff’s Office.
