Elkton Bank & Trust Helps Keep Courthouse Clock Ticking

For many years, Elkton Bank & Trust has served as faithful stewards for the historic 1835 courthouse’s iconic clock tower.

The bank continually provides funds to offset maintenance expenses for the clock tower’s upkeep, and recently repaired the clock’s mechanism at the end of 2024.

Renovation efforts for the historic courthouse have been ongoing for almost a decade and the city recently completed restoration on the building’s south door last summer. As the courthouse’s preservation project continues, the clock tower stands out in Elkton’s landscape as an “all-seeing and omnipresent onlooker into the activities occurring around the Square,” in the words of Todd County notable Carolyn Wells.

Elkton’s City Council and Mayor Arthur Green extend their sincere appreciation to the Bank & Trust for its ongoing dedication to the clock’s restoration and maintenance, and express their gratitude for the bank’s commitment to preserving Todd County’s history. Thanks to the bank’s generosity, Elkton’s clock tower remains standing tall and will continue to do so for years to come.
