Kentucky License Plate Renewal Reminder

Kentucky drivers born in January are encouraged to renew their vehicle tags as they are likely to expire this month.

Todd County Clerk Cynthia O’Bryan advises Todd Countians not to wait for a renewal card in the mail, which may not be guaranteed to arrive. It is the vehicle owner’s responsibility to ensure their license plates are renewed each year, even if they do not receive a renewal notice.

While most plates expire in the owner’s birth month, farm vehicles, motorhomes/recreational vehicles, trailers and weighted trucks up to 80,000 lbs. will expire in March, while handicap plates expire in July and personalized plates in December of each year.

To renew, O’Bryan says Todd Countians should bring their renewal receipt and proof of insurance to the Todd County Clerk’s Office in Elkton.
