State Auditor Allison Ball released the audit of the 2023 financial statement of Todd County Sheriff Tracy White that found discrepancies in the handling of a Community Oriented Policing Services grant.
The audit revealed the sheriff’s office received over $20,000 more than it was entitled to between 2016 and 2018 due to incorrect reimbursement calculations.
The audit identified several errors, including requesting 100% reimbursement instead of the 75% allowed by the grant agreement and improperly including health insurance costs. The sheriff’s office has referred the matter to Todd County Attorney Jeff Traughber for assistance in resolving the issue.
The State Auditor’s Office will be referring the matter to the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.
