In its first order of business in the new year, the Trenton City Commission voted Monday evening to approve a municipal order appointing Commissioner Chuck Sadler as Mayor Pro Tem.
Sadler will serve as the city’s mayor in Martha Ray’s absence. Ray was absent from Monday’s meeting.
Sadler is among the four returning commissioners re-elected for another two-year term in November.
Commissioners also voted to approve department heads for the new term:
Tim Kulesza for Water/Sewer, Chuck Sadler for Fire/Police, Wayne Johnson for Highway, and Joyce Edwards for Cemetery.
In other news, the commission approved the purchase of a canine bite suit for $1200 from Elite K-9 in Boaz, KY. According to Police Chief Henry Hamlet, the bite suit will allow ongoing training for the city’s K-9 Boone.
Boone is now certified in concealed human detection, narcotics detection, patrol, and tracking,
Chief Hamlet hopes to share Boone’s training videos with the public soon via social media.
The commission also approved the purchase of a manhole structure for the city’s water plant for $3300.
