Cecelia Sims Hostilo is a 1975 graduate of Todd County Central High School.
She values most from Todd Central the friends she made in choir and band. She appreciates being challenged to think in Art Douglas’ social studies classes and says she took as many of his classes as possible.
Hostilo also fondly remembers the football and basketball games she got to attend as a member of the band, as well as the leadership opportunities with FHA and 4-H. She says she treasures the memory of when the Rebels went to state semifinals in Glasgow in fall of 1973 – she froze and the team lost, but she had a blast.
Hostilo advises current Todd Central students to take advantage of all the opportunities presented to them, make all kinds of friends and expand their horizons. To current educators, she says that facts are great, but the ability to problem solve and think critically is vital – teaching should point to those skills.
After graduating, she earned a bachelor’s degree in vocational home economics and a master’s in secondary special education from Murray State University.
During her career, Hostilo taught home economics and secondary special education for 13 years, worked at the Pennyroyal Mental Health Developmentally Delayed Preschool and Infant Stimulation Services for two years and the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service office for 13 and a half years.
Hostilo is originally from Madisonville, Kentucky but now lives in Lynn Grove. She has two children, Elizabeth Carolynn Hostilo Rowe and Rebecca Anne Hostilo.
