For the first time in Todd County, a 4-H student qualified and was selected for the national team in 4-H shooting sports.
TCCHS student Will Tabor is one of the top four students in the state who will travel to Nebraska in June 2025 and will compete in the national archery event.
4-H Extension Agent Lee Ann McCuiston shares Tabor’s cousin, Joe Anthony Tabor, was also selected as an alternate and could potentially join the team if a spot opens up.
The team will begin practice this spring with a shooting sports coach from the state to prepare for the competition this summer.
McCuiston says there is a $1,000 fee for a student to travel to nationals. After reaching out to the community for donations, she was able to garner 14 sponsors for Tabor.
She plans to purchase a 4-H jacket and embroider all the logos and farm names of the sponsors for Tabor to wear and have as a keepsake.
