As the holiday season quickly approaches, the City of Elkton is on the lookout for musical performers for the second annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.
Assistant City Clerk Rebecca Collins says the debut event went over really well last year, so the city decided to bring the event back again. She adds they have around five performers so far, including a few choirs and local artists, but are hoping to find more to fill the four-hour event with as many musical guests as possible.
The event will take place Saturday, Nov. 30, starting at 3 p.m. and running until 7 p.m. The tree lighting will take place at the end of the night and Collins says Mayor Arthur Green is still deciding who will light the tree this year.
Besides musical performances, the event will also feature free carriage rides, free hot chocolate, a S’mores bar and professional photos with Santa, Mrs. Claus and their reindeer.
Individuals interested in performing at the tree lighting should contact Elkton City Hall at 270-265-9877 by Friday, Nov. 15.
Collins extends her thanks to the event’s sponsors for making this year’s tree lighting possible – Novelis, Atmos Energy, O’Reilly Auto Parts, United Southern Bank, EnergyNet, Pennyrile Electric and the City of Elkton.
