During a meeting Tuesday afternoon, the Guthrie Planning Commission approved a five-unit apartment building.

The application presented to the group is from William Osborne, of Clarksville, who intends to build apartments at the corner of Howell Street and Lizzy Dancy Street. The property is flat, and if fully approved, would combine two plots to create a .52-acre site.

The property is surrounded by R-4 (Multi-Family Residential) zoned properties and would be zoned the same. The property will also feature ten parking spaces for the residents.

Community Development Service employees reported that there have been no negative comments from anyone, including neighbors, who expressed excitement about the prospect of something new occupying the empty properties.

Guthrie Planning Commission members present included Chairman David England, Nancy Outlawe, Cynthia Simmons, and Ray Wheeler.
