With no comments at last Thursday’s public hearing, Elkton City Council members moved forward with approving the city’s 2024 ad valorem tax rates in a special called meeting Monday morning.
The real property rate was set at .241 cents per $100 of assessed value and the personal property rate was set at .0968 cents per $100 of assessed value.
All motor vehicles and watercraft situated within the city limits of Elkton will be taxed at .303 cents per $100 of assessed value.
The council also approved the 2nd reading of an ordinance that closes a .0574 acre portion of a public alley located west of Perry Street. The closed portions of the alley will be deeded to the adjacent landowners, GM&M Properties, and First Baptist Church.
