The Todd County Hay Bale Trail has a brand-new category this year: scarecrows.
The Chamber of Commerce recently announced the last-minute decision to add the trail’s fourth category, Best Supporting Scarecrow, and Director Tiffany Groves says the new addition will make it a little easier for everyone to participate who wants to.
She adds the idea came from a community member’s suggestion. Groves thought it was a brilliant idea and ran with it – within a couple of days, the Chamber had already updated the registration forms to include scarecrows.
Best Supporting Scarecrow is its own category this year, along with the already existing small, large and mega, with a $100 cash prize for the winning scarecrow. As far as scarecrows returning to future Hay Bale Trails, Groves says she’ll have to see how it goes this year.
Hay Bale Trail registration is open until Sept. 10 and the trail kicks off Sept. 21.
