South Todd Elementary Introduces Vocab Initiative, New Staff

The team at South Todd Elementary School has been hard at work preparing for students to return to the classroom.

Principal Jennifer Oyler says teachers and staff have been busy setting up South Todd’s theme for the upcoming year: “Be brave and let your words be anything but empty.”

She adds she has always been committed to creating a family environment at the school and hopes to continue that — as well as push academics. Oyler says this is something she is most looking forward to for the new school year, especially the school’s new vocab initiative.

Additionally, fourth and fifth graders will have a new opportunity this year with the addition of a Beta Club at South Todd.

Oyler notes there will be quite a few new faces joining the school’s family this year.

The school also welcomes new PE teacher Chance Burress, special education teacher Lindsay Quarles and special education instructional assistant Lydia Knipp.

Todd County’s first day of school for K-12 students is Friday, Aug. 9 with preschool starting Monday, Aug. 19.
