New Progress On Elkton’s City Hall And Police Department Renovations

Elkton’s City Hall and Police Department renovation project has seen a fair amount of progress in the past few months.

The front porch is now complete and the building also has a brand-new front door. Assistant City Clerk Kayce Bright says the building’s exterior is 99% complete with a few changes still needing to be made.

Renovations have also begun on the building’s interior with an expansion featuring a new private conference room.

Bright says the project’s contractors are currently looking at flooring and paint color for the interior and plan to have all new furniture. This week, they have started clearing out old desks and adding stone to the lobby’s walls. Bright says a good deal of progress has been made inside, but there is still a lot left to do. She adds it’s a waiting game, but the contractors have been doing an excellent job.

Since the renovation project did not receive any bids last year, there is no single contractor for the project, but rather individual community members who are completing different pieces of the project.

Bright says there is still a lot of decision-making going on, but hopefully, the entire project will be completed by around mid-September of this year.
