An online campaign from Todd Countian Kelvin DeBerry helped the newly formed Todd County Fair Board well-exceed the ask to build an outdoor arena space.
The campaign was launched last Thursday, but thanks to an ask on Facebook, DeBerry secured over $30,000 in pledges for the project – the board was only asking for $12,500.
Todd County 4-H Youth Development Agent LeeAnn McCuiston, who will also oversee the arena space, said she was blown away by the community’s generosity.
The outdoor arena will be built on property owned by the Todd County Extension Service on Pond River Road. The space has a tight deadline needing to be completed before August 1, when a goat and sheep show will take place.
If all plans come to fruition, McCuiston shared there will be other events that take place on August 1st.
McCuiston, who hails from Johnson County, Indiana (well-known for their county fairs) has always dreamed of having similar events in Todd County.
As we reported last week, the newly formed fair board will work to secure state and federal grant funding to also add a pavilion, restrooms, and a concession stand to the property. Donations pledged for the outdoor arena can be mailed to the Todd County Extension District at 240 Pond River Road; Elkton, Kentucky; 42220, and must be received by Friday, June 21st.
