‘To Be Or Not To Be?’ – TCCHS Students Take In Hamlet

field-trip-1-1

To go or not to go? That was the question posed to TCCHS students on April 8th and according to the majority, the answer was yes.

Many freshmen and sophomore students from Todd County Central High School participated in the field trip on Wednesday to witness the Roxy Regional Theater’s production of the play Hamlet – written by the world-renowned William Shakespeare. The students were given a great opportunity to learn more about Shakespeare’s works through the viewing of Hamlet, while also gaining insights into the playwriting of William Shakespeare by studying Julius Caesar.

Many teachers we interviewed had different opinions about the play and the trip. In response to asking what her favorite part of the play was, English II teacher Victoria Jenkins said, “The actor who played Hamlet portrayed his psychological struggles very well.” English I teacher Becky Milburn noted, “The play had realistic action from the lights to the flights.” The students we interviewed had mostly positive responses and found the play entertaining.

As students writing this we want to thank the Todd County Board of Education, The Todd County Central High School Administrators, Lunchladies, teachers, the Todd County School District Transportation, and the Roxy Regional Theater for having us. We also want to thank the fellow students who contributed to posting photos for us to use in our article and especially WEKT, for letting us have the chance to post this article about our trip.

This story was written by Todd County Central High School students Omar Figueroa-Navarrete, Anna Mallory, and Addison Johnson.
