After ten years on the city commission, Trenton Commissioner Wayne Johnson has submitted his resignation.
The commission unanimously approved the resignation at its regularly scheduled meeting Monday evening.
Johnson, a commissioner since 2015, recently moved outside the city limits of Trenton and is no longer eligible to be a commissioner.
According to City Clerk Carol Chester, the commission has 30 days to approve a replacement for Johnson.
The city is accepting bids for mowing and maintenance of Edgewood Cemetery from June 1 to September 30. Bids will be accepted at city hall until the close of business on May 6.
The commission approved a grant agreement with the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development for the city’s long-awaited water project. The $1.25 million in matching grant monies accounts for 49.5% of the total project costs to replace the city’s aging water lines.
The remaining funding will come from the city’s match and a Community Development Block Grant.
In other news, two anonymous donors will purchase a grain entrapment rescue system for the city’s fire department. The $3,152 system includes a tube that will create a barrier around the victim and allow rescuers to remove large quantities of grain from the area surrounding the victim.
The system will be only the second such rescue system in the county.
The city’s annual spring cleanup is scheduled for April 28 and 29.
The commission will meet again at a special called meeting on May 6.
