Mrs. Gracie Marie Rager Coursey Sweeney age 97 of Clifty, KY passed away Sunday April 6, 2025, 6:49 p.m. at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville, KY.
Services will be Thursday April 10, 2025, 1:00 p.m. at Latham Funeral Home in Elkton, KY with Rev. Tony Evitts officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenbriar Schoolhouse Cemetery in Muhlenberg County.
Visitation will be Wednesday April 9, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Latham Funeral Home in Elkton. Services will be life-streamed at lathamfuneralhome.com.
Mrs. Gracie was born March 31, 1928, in Clifty, KY. She attended Antioch Baptist Church and New Harmony General Baptist Church. She was retired from Elkton Apparel and Emerson Electric and a homemaker who spent lots of time taking care of her mom and Husband.
She is preceded in death by her parents Judge Rager and Mayda Johnson Rager, her first husband W.R. “Bob” Coursey and her second husband Melvin Sweeney, her son Charles Edward Coursey, her brothers Hollis and Collis Rager, her sisters Cynthia McNutt and Dovie Sears, and her sister in law Glendora Rager, her step son Foster Sweeney and his wife Martha Ann, Darrell Sweeney and his wife Betty, and William “Pete” Sweeney, her step daughter Dorothy Yonts and her husband Larry.
Mrs. Gracie is survived by her son Jerry Coursey and his wife Bertha of Clifty, her step sons Jim Sweeney and his wife Jennifer of Russellville, KY, Butch Sweeney and his wife Janet of Greenville, KY and Ronnie Sweeney and his wife Lynn of Livermore, KY, her step daughter Rosa Sweeney of Greenville, KY, her brothers Glendal Rager of Shepherdsville, KY, and Larry Rager and his wife Velma of Clifty, KY, her grandchildren Billy Ray Coursey and his wife Kathy, and Bradley Wayne Coursey and his wife Georgia, her great grandchildren Rachel, Jenna and Hadlie Coursey, several step grandchildren and great grandchildren, also several nieces and nephews.
