Steven B. Latham is a 1988 graduate of Todd County Central High School.
Todd Central’s teachers as well as the friendships he made over the years are what Latham says he remembers most from his time in high school. He also fondly remembers FFA’s Drive Your Tractor to School Day and says it was one of his favorite events.
After graduating, Latham attended Austin Peay State University and the American Military University. Throughout his career, he has been an equestrian farm owner and operator, a senior program manager for Cyber Operation Contracts and a Chief Master Sergeant of the United States Air Force, where he specialized in signals intelligence and cyber operations before his retirement.
Latham advises current Todd Central students to make the most of their time in high school and college because those will be the memories they will look back on for the rest of their lives.
To current educators, he says he would recommend a formal class on learning and studying in order to teach students strategies on studying techniques and absorbing information. He adds they should then evaluate whether students learn best from auditory, visual or tactical methods. Latham says the Air Force changed his academic life with this knowledge.
Latham was born in Dearborn, Michigan and now lives in Thomson, Georgia. He has three children, Danielle, Lauren and Emily.
