The Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force addressed the Elkton Rotary Club Wednesday, providing insights into current drug trends affecting the region.
Officials noted a decline in local meth lab operations, attributing the change to increased drug deliveries via mail. They identified California and Oklahoma as primary sources of marijuana being shipped into Todd County.
The task force reported that fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, and marijuana remain the most prevalent drugs in the area.
Last year, they opened approximately 70 drug-related cases in Todd County, with around 20 cases opened so far this year.
While acknowledging the difficulty in completely eradicating the drug problem, the task force expressed optimism about the progress being made in Todd County.
The task force was established in 1980 and serves nine counties.
