Spring Sports Spring Forward For Todd County Schools

Spring sports are underway in Todd County with many of the district’s teams officially beginning their seasons this week.

The teams already well into their spring seasons are performing very well, according to Superintendent Mark Thomas. He offers his congratulations to TCCHS’s archery team, who recently hosted a tournament which brought over 800 participants to Elkton. Todd County placed second overall.

Thomas says congratulations also go out to the TCCHS girls basketball team who performed very well at their recent regional tournament and were only two points short of advancing.

The high school’s esports team is well into their spring season as well and all four leagues are currently ranked top 25 in the state.

More spring sports are yet to come with the high school’s track and field, baseball and softball teams officially beginning their seasons this week. Also this week, the middle school’s baseball team is preparing to start their season play and the middle school’s boys and girls soccer teams begin competitions.

Thomas notes there will be quite a few home games coming up and invites the community to come out and cheer on the students throughout the spring.

In regard to the academic calendar, Thomas says the district will not have school Friday, March. 21. Friday, March 28 is an early release day, kicking off spring break for the schools. Students will return to campus Monday, April 7.

As the end of the school year approaches, Thomas says there will be lots of events showcasing and recognizing the district’s students.

The last day of school for students is Friday, May 16.
