
For the second year in a row, the Todd County Central Lady Rebels will take on the Bowling Green Lady Purples in the 4th Region tournament. This year, it will just happen in the first round instead of the title game.
In fact, the Lady Rebels are in the same bracket with all three teams they played last year in the regional tournament.
The Lady Rebels and the Lady Purples will square off Monday night at 6:30 at Diddle Arena. The second game Monday night will have Warren East taking on Metcalfe County.
In 2024, Todd County Central knocked off Warren East in the quarterfinals and then beat Metcalfe County in the semifinals. The Lady Rebels put up a fight in the championship game but fell to Bowling Green 49-35.
Todd County Central goes into the tournament as the runner-up out of the 13th District after falling to Franklin-Simpson Thursday night. Bowling Green upended South Warren to take the 14th District title.
The Lady Purples are just 12-16 on the season. Their noteworthy wins have come over South Warren, Greenwood, and Logan County. Bowling Green has losses to McCracken County, Calloway County, Christian County, Barren County, and Graves County.
The Lady Purples are led by Katy Smiley, who is scoring 11.4 points per game.
Todd County Central is the higher-rated team in the KHSAA RPI. The Lady Rebels have a rating of .54175, while the Lady Purples are rated .49230.
Todd County Central’s last win over Bowling Green came on Valentine’s Day 2006 when the Lady Rebels won 65-57.
The 4th Region tournament gets underway Sunday afternoon. Barren County will take on Cumberland County at 3pm, followed by tournament favorite Franklin-Simpson against South Warren at 4:30.
The semifinals are set for Tuesday night at 6:30 and 8 with the championship set for Saturday, March 8 at 7pm.
Tickets are 8 dollars in advance, 10 dollars at the door.
