both-1

Two women pled guilty to charges in connection to the overdose death of an Elkton man over the summer last year.

A release from the Todd County Sheriff’s Department and the Pennyrile Narcotics Taskforce stated that 33-year-old Whitney Harper pled guilty to reckless homicide and three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment. Additionally, 42-year-old Shannon Moorefield, of Elkton, pled guilty to complicity to commit reckless homicide, two counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, and third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

Both were arrested following the overdose death of Jordan Moorefield, the son of Shannon, on June 14, 2024. Detectives from both agencies and the Christian County Sheriff’s Office determined the cause of death was from a fentanyl overdose. It was determined that Shannon had purchased fentanyl from Whitney Harper. After the purchase, Shannon traveled back to her residence where she ingested the fentanyl with Jordan, resulting in his death, and that Jordan had ingested other substances provided by his mother.

Shannon received a sentence totaling 12 years, while Harper received a sentence totaling 15 years.
