The Todd County Board of Education accepted Superintendent Mark Thomas’ retirement letter Thursday night.
In the letter presented to the board, Thomas announced that he would retire from the district on Monday, June 30th, after five years of service.
He told Your WEKT News Edge that some personal family issues have arisen, and he and his wife, Noelle, are moving to Louisville.
In his letter to the board, Thomas thanked the district’s staff and students, as well as the parents/guardians, the community, and the board of education.
Thomas added that his five years in the district have never been about him but about those in the district each day.
Thomas said they going to miss the Todd County community and all the opportunities they have provided for his family. Moving forward, the Todd County Board of Education will begin the process of looking for his replacement. One that Thomas hopes will truly understand the community partnerships that help to better the district.
Thomas added he’s “excited about the progress and growth that our school district will make and what the future holds for our school community.”
The board of education will meet Monday evening in the district office to begin the first steps of looking for Thomas’ replacement. The search typically takes a few months.
