The high school baseball season is about six weeks out and there is a critical shortage of umpires for the Second Region.
Matt Bell is a longtime umpire and is the assigner for games in the region.

click to download audioIf you are interested in being a high school umpire and helping out, there will be a meeting at Hopkins County Central High School tonight at 6:00 that will serve to answer any questions.
Bell says an umpire can make $135 a night for calling a varsity/JV combo and they can help with some equipment purchases that will be required at startup.
