Clarksville Man Charged With DUI And Drug Possession

A Clarksville man was charged with drug possession and DUI after a traffic stop on 3rd Street in Guthrie Wednesday night.

Guthrie Police say they stopped a vehicle driven by 41-year-old William Sawyer due to his license plate information not matching the color of his vehicle and during the stop, he was found to have no insurance and a suspended license.

He was asked to exit the vehicle after a law enforcement K9 reportedly alerted on the vehicle and he rolled up the windows.

Police say they had to break a window to get him out of the vehicle after he was asked to exit the vehicle. A Todd County Sheriff’s deputy reportedly damaged his taser trying to get Sawyer out of the vehicle.

Police say After a search of the vehicle, multiple pipes used for smoking meth, marijuana, and psilocybin were found.

He was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal mischief, DUI, possession of meth, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, failure to maintain required insurance., obstruction or interference with an officer, and resisting arrest.
