Todd County Energy Savings Project Approved

Todd County remains on the hunt for a new Emergency Management Director after the recent retirement of long-time director Daniel Smith.

In Friday morning’s Fiscal Court meeting, Judge Executive Todd Mansfield told the Court that he and Magistrates Brent Brookshire and Boogie Oliver make up a committee that will continue to search for and recommend the appointment of a new director.

Mansfield told the Court that his office has received five applications and will continue to be accepted through January 31st.

William Randolph is the county’s acting director.

The Court moved ahead with a long-discussed energy savings project with its approval of a contract aimed at cost savings renovations and upgrades at several of the county’s buildings.

Under the $1.2 million contract terms, Ascendant Facility Partners will provide consulting and guidance on energy efficiency, coordination with and payment of contractors, and assistance with government rebates once the projects are completed.

Installation of a new solar paneled roof on the county jail is a top priority for the project.

In other news, magistrates approved an application for a $20,000 Kentucky Ambulance Block Grant administered by the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services. The monies awarded by the grant can be used to purchase ambulances for the county.

In addition, the magistrates approved the re-appointment of Glenn Higdon and Gary Templeman to the County Ethics Board, the $1392 contract with Cornerstone in Hopkinsville for county official emails, and a $250 per month contract with former emergency management director Daniel Smith for GIS and Mapping services for the county’s 911 system.
