716th Detachment From Fort Campbell Deploys To Border

Fort Campbell Soldiers departed Saturday to the U.S. southern border, in support of U.S. Northern Command’s mission to protect the territorial integrity of the United States.

According Fort Campbell Public Affairs reports soldiers assigned to the 716th Military Police Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) will integrate with military forces already along the border and work together with the Department of Homeland Security and Customs and Border Protection.

Prior to their departure, the 716th MP element conducted a “patching ceremony,” donning the historic 101st Airborne Div. “Screaming Eagle” patch as part of ongoing Army Structure and force modernization efforts at Fort Campbell.

716th Military Police Battalion commander Lt. Col. Phillip Mason said “We are trained and ready to support this important mission,”. He adds “Our Soldiers are committed to protecting all Americans and supporting our civilian partners in defending the territorial integrity of the United States. We’re also proud to mobilize for this mission wearing the Screaming Eagle patch, which has historical significance to the 716th.”
