Todd County Central High School Alumni Spotlight: Brittany Rodriguez

Brittany Rust Rodriguez is a 2010 graduate of Todd County Central High School.

The band program had a huge impact on Rodriguez’s life in high school and she says she will always treasure the memory of her experiences in the ensemble.

After her time with the Todd Central band, she continued pursuing music at Murray State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in music education with an instrumental emphasis.

She also went on to earn a certification in the Orff Schulwerk approach in music education from the University of Kentucky, a master’s in music education and teacher leadership as well as a Rank 1 in music education from Western Kentucky University.

Now, Rodriguez is a music teacher in Bowling Green, Kentucky, where she currently makes her home.

She advises current Todd Central students not to worry about what others think of them. She says high school is a short period in their lives, so they should enjoy their time and be themselves.

To current educators, Rodriguez says it’s important to support the music teachers in the building. She adds they may not teach a tested subject area, but they are invaluable to the student community and need to be supported.
