The City of Guthrie will hold its annual Christmas parade and a full day of holiday festivities Saturday, Dec. 7.
Christmas in Guthrie: All Roads Lead Home for Christmas, will begin Saturday at 11:30 a.m. with the annual parade, grand-marshaled by a Ft. Campbell commander.
Throughout the day, Todd Countians can expect food and craft vendors, games, giveaways and children’s crafts. Several downtown businesses will be open for local shopping and a “Main Street Christmas Market” will take place at the Longhurst Building. Santa Claus will also make a special appearance around noon.
Additionally, the Guthrie Community Lending Library will hold a Christmas storytime for children and families.
Caroling by the city’s Christmas tree will begin at 3:45 p.m. before the official tree lighting. Tree decorating begins at 4 p.m. with a prayer, song and lighting commencing at 4:30 p.m. The community is invited to bring large ornaments to place on the city tree.
Volunteers are needed to assist and supervise throughout the day. Individuals interested in volunteering should contact Guthrie City Hall at 270-483-2511.
The City of Guthrie notes Ewing St. will be closed to traffic most of the day from 10 a.m. – 9:30 p.m.
