Long-time Elkton City Councilman Doug Gibson “flipped the switch” and lit the Christmas tree during the city’s second annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony Saturday, Nov. 29.
After 20 years of service, Gibson will finish his last meeting this month and retire from his role with the city.
Dedicating his time to serving the community was only natural to Gibson – after all, he’s been in Elkton for almost his whole life.
He has made quite a few accomplishments in the past two decades, and in more recent years, watched Todd County’s exponential growth develop.
Gibson says he is very thankful he was asked to light the tree. To the community, he expresses his appreciation for everything they have done for him through the years and for putting their faith in him as a councilman.
