The Todd County Public Library held a two-day open house event last week to officially welcome the community inside its new facility on South Main Street.
The new 12,900-square-foot library cost over $4 million and was funded through a Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives grant. Gary Violette, a Todd County native and owner of Violette Architecture/Interior Design of Clarksville, Tennessee, designed it.
Along with the move to the new facility, the library also has a new director, Amanda Hayes, who is in the process of calling Todd County home. Hayes said the new facility truly supports all members of the community.
The community room is also equipped with an 85” television screen, which will be utilized to present holiday classics in December.
Hayes added that the library also offers two study rooms, available to all ages.
Additionally, the library has a computer room.
One of the more notable areas of the library is the children’s area, where Hayes hopes to foster a lot of learning.
The children’s area also features a storytime area, where stories will be told in four ways.
Also, in the children’s area, you’ll find a puppet stage.
The Todd County Public Library, a short walk away at 507 South Main Street in Elkton, welcomes visitors daily except Sunday. The library is open from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Monday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Tuesday through Friday, and 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday.
