Elkton and Guthrie city councils will have some new faces when members are sworn in for their upcoming two-year term.
For the City of Elkton, 11 people filed to run for the six seats. George Orr received the most votes with 550, with Emily Ann Carroll coming in second with 469. Coming in third was Danny Laster with 427, followed by Frank McReynolds with 355 votes and John Mullins with 309 votes. The last person to get a two-year term was David Powell with 307 votes. Receiving two fewer votes was Doug Gibson, who was seeking re-election to the council after serving for 20 years. Joining Gibson in not being elected included Tyler Wiseman, Megan Willenborg, Jacob Rice, and Cindy Sidebottom.
In Guthrie – eight people filed to run for the six seats. Norma Williams received the most votes with 287, followed by Zollie Rose with 265 and Russ Longhurst with 250. Receiving 249 votes and securing fourth place was Harry Green and Chad Johnson came in fifth with 215 votes. Andrea Milkowski came in sixth and received 170 votes. Linda Smith and Michael Smith came in seventh and eighth, respectively.
For the third district Todd County Board of Education seat – Greg Russell won over Ashley Hadden. Both were write-in candidates after Kelly Groves resigned from her seat to take a position within the district. Russell won 65 to 16, while Groves received 693 votes – none counted, because she dropped out of the race.
Other Todd County results:
President: Donald Trump won over Kamala Harris, 4,009 to 1,051 votes. Jill Stein received 11 votes, while Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. received 24 and Chase Oliver received 17.
1st U.S. Congressional District: James Comer easily won over Erin Marshall, 3,953 to 1,049.
16th District State Representative: Jason Petrie received 4,374 votes in his home county.
7th Judicial Circuit Commonwealth’s Attorney: Neil Kerr received 4,151 votes.
Circuit Clerk: Mark Cowherd received 3,393 votes.
1st Appellate District 2nd Division Judge of the Court of Appeals: Jason Fleming beat out Lisa Jones, 1,652 to 1,488.
City of Trenton Commissioners: John Sadler received 129 votes, Wayne Johnson – 127, Timothy Kulesza – 99, and Joyce Edwards – 97.
Soil and Water Conservation District: While able to choose four, only three filed. Pam Alder received 2,056 votes with Bradley Brookshire receiving 1,996, and Garrett Sharp getting 1,805 votes.
2nd District Board of Education: Eric Harris received 641 votes.
4th District Board of Education: Joshua Mosby received 665 votes.
Constitutional Amendment 1: ‘Yes’ beat out ‘No,’ 3,008 to 1,668.
Constitutional Amendment 2: ‘No’ beat out ‘Yes,’ 3,001 to 1,760.
Medical Cannabis: ‘Yes’ beat out ‘No,’ 2,925 to 1,821.
Election results must still be certified by the Kentucky Secretary of State’s office.
