Blount Rural Health Center Raising Money To Help Todd Countians Pay Utility Bills

The Blount Rural Health Center, an independent rural health clinic, is currently taking donations for its Community Health Worker Fund, allowing the clinic to assist the community with the cost of utilities and hygiene items.

Community Health Worker Marianna Sova was hard at work during Elkton’s HarvestFest, selling items at Blount Rural’s display in order to raise money for the fund. She says there is a big need in Todd County for helping folks with their utility funds and electricity bills.

She adds it’s an ongoing need in the county and invites the community to stop by the clinic to make a donation at any point throughout the year. Blount Rural Health is a tax-exempt organization and individuals are welcome to make a tax-exemptible donation.

Over the summer, community health workers at the health center, including Sova, were identified as Outstanding in Innovation for their work with the Kentucky Heart Disease and Prevention Program. For the past year, Sova and her colleague have partnered with the Kentucky Department of Public Health to improve outcomes for patients experiencing hypertension and chronic health diseases.

In addition to the many other resources offered by the health center, Blount Rural also has mental health resources available to the community, with two behavioral health providers on-staff to support and address mental health needs.

Blount Rural Health accepts new patients and walk-ins Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
