At its regularly scheduled meeting Friday morning, the Todd County Fiscal Court gave the go-ahead for Jailer Jeff Penick to apply for a $100,000 cybersecurity grant.

The State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program is administered by the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security and requires a 30% match from the jail’s commissary funds. If awarded, monies from the grant can used to address cybersecurity risks and threats to information systems at the jail.

The court also approved the transfer of monies in the abandoned inmate accounts at Elkton Bank and Trust to the jail’s commissary account at the bank.

According to Jailer Penick, the accounts meet the state’s definition of abandoned and are thus eligible for transfer.

In other news, magistrates approved the purchase of a new roll-off truck for the county’s waste management department.

The new $221,000 Volvo truck will replace the county’s current truck which will be sold at auction in Montgomery, AL. The roll-off truck is used to transport trash from the county’s four convenience centers to the landfill.
