On Saturday during the Todd County vs. McLean County football game, the 1973 Rebels football team will be honored and inducted into the Todd County Central High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

The team, which boasted an impressive 9-3-1 record, was crowned the Region 1 Mid-South champions. The 1973 Rebels made a memorable post-season run, clinching a victory against Glasgow to secure the Region 1 Class A Championship.

This propelled them to the Class A state semi-final game in Paris, Kentucky, where their remarkable journey came to an end.

That year, the Rebels dominated on their home turf, winning every home game and igniting a wave of excitement throughout the county.

Carrie Joy Brookshire said as a student in the band, she remembers the electric atmosphere that filled the stands, packed with enthusiastic Rebels fans from all corners of the county. The band played our Fight Song as we formed a big open “T” for the team to run through, a moment that united everyone in support of our team.
