Todd County Judge-Executive Todd Mansfield issued a Burn Ban which began Monday afternoon and is in effect until further notice.
The ban has been issued as many parts of the county have not received measurable rainfall for a few weeks. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, the county is under the ‘abnormally dry’ category.
Judge Mansfield’s order states that “no person shall cause or participate in any open burning within Todd County.” Adding that “such burning shall include but is not limited to debris removal, trash disposal, land clearing, or bonfires.”
In additional communication with WEKT, emergency officials said that cooking grills and fire pits are fine, as long as someone stays and watches them.
