North and South Todd Elementary Schools will hold their preschool open houses Thursday, Aug. 15.
The open houses will be held from 5-7 p.m. in each school’s preschool hallways, where North Todd Principal Laura Boley says students and parents can tour the school, review the Preschool Handbook and see what’s going on inside the elementary schools in preparation for the new school year.
She adds preschool teachers across the district are starting a new curriculum called TPOT – short for Teaching Pyramid Observation Tool. According to the University of Kentucky Human Development Insitute, TPOT implements key practices in the classroom such as supporting friendship skills, teaching children to express emotions, teaching problem-solving and connecting with families. Boley shares teachers from both elementary schools will receive training every Friday to become proficient in the new curriculum.
Boley says she is very excited about Thursday and hopes everyone will come out to the open houses. The first day of school for Todd County preschoolers is Monday, Aug. 19.
