At only 14 years old, Mallory Werner is already a successful businesswoman.
Through Miss Mallory’s Sweet Corn, Werner has been raising her own corn and selling it to the community for the past several years.
Werner says Miss Mallory’s Sweet Corn began when she was around six or seven years old and her mom, Rhonda Werner, decided to turn their little sweet corn patch at Werner’s grandparents’ farm into a business.
Werner has a history of using her sweet corn proceeds to help the community, raising $800 for the Christian County Animal Shelter last year. This year, she began sharing her funds with her volleyball team at Todd County Central High School.
She adds this endeavor has worked well in raising funds for the team, and she was able to meet her $500 goal from sweet corn alone. Werner, a freshman at TCCHS, says she expects to keep the tradition going through her time in high school.
Apart from the sweet corn business and volleyball, Werner is also involved in the Todd County Chamber of Commerce’s Kids Chamber program, Todd County 4-H and plans to continue her agriculture skills with the high school’s FFA.
While she is already finished selling corn for the year, Miss Mallory’s Sweet Corn opens back up for business every summer.
