Todd County Central High School Alumni Spotlight: Holly Lawson

Holly Anne (Simons) Lawson is a 2009 graduate of Todd County Central High School.

As a student, Lawson remembers laughing it off when people told her she would miss high school one day. Now, she understands, and says she would give anything to play one more basketball game with her friends and walk the halls again.

She has fond memories of basketball games, homecoming activities and pep rallies. To Lawson, those were the best days and best times of the year. She adds she will always treasure the memories of winning “Class A” in basketball as well as her senior trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

Lawson advises current Todd Central students to enjoy their time in school and not to rush growing up. She adds to go to the games, dances and bonfires, hang out with friends, participate in school activities and take pride in being a Rebel.

After graduating, Lawson earned a four-year basketball scholarship to attend Brescia University in Owensboro, Kentucky, where she received a bachelor’s degree in speech language pathology. She also received a special education certification from the University of Kentucky.

As a special education teacher at Todd County Central High School, Lawson says teaching at a small school has many benefits. She adds Todd County has an amazing community that is always full of support, administrators and leaders who are great listeners and a close-knit friendship of faculty and staff. She says it will always be home to her.

Lawson was born in Clarksville, Tennessee and currently lives in Russellville, Kentucky with her husband, Corey Lawson.
