Over 200 children will receive new shoes thanks to the efforts of participants in the 2nd annual Firecracker 5K held Saturday morning.
The event was hosted by the Elkton Rotary Club and was organized by Tiffany Groves, who announced that the event surpassed its $6,000 goal.
Samuel Larson, of Lewisburg, was the first to finish the race and received the Overall Male award. He finished with a time of just over 16:50.
Sara Martin, of Clarksville, was the Overall Female award winner, clocking a time of just over 21:47.
Students who are receiving shoes from the Happy Feet program will pick them up this coming Saturday at Todd County Central High School.
