A country music artist who spends time in Todd County, but performs regularly in eastern Kentucky, has released a new single about drug addiction.

Travis Wayne, of Travis Wayne and Contraband – a country/rock band, recently released “Love You for Me.” Wayne has law enforcement experience and grew up near known drug dealers.

Wayne added he’s seen the issues, like many others, in his own family.

“Love You for Me” was written by brothers Dave and Dan Demay, both are no strangers to writing songs that tug at the heartstrings. Dan co-wrote Darryl Worley’s 2005 top-ten hit single, “If Something Should Happen.”

Wayne said he hopes the song helps people who are dealing with struggles due to the drug epidemic.

Wayne has been performing country music for the last ten years, and released a full-length album, ‘I Like It Already,’ in 2013. The album features 13 songs, most of which were co-written by some of the biggest songwriters in Nashville.

You can follow Travis Wayne and the Contraband on Facebook for more information about upcoming shows and other announcements. He shared they are currently working on a website, that should be live very soon.
